The great qualitative and technical advantages offered by laser
marking to all the sectors of industrial production are now well
known to everyone. The trend to use this technology is far from
the saturation point; with the distribution of technological know
how, new solutions are being continuously experimented even with
applications that traditionally belonged to other technologies.
The size of the laser sources, including the power supply unit,
may be no more than that of a briefcase and, above all, the
average life-time of a laser diode module is currently 10k - 15k
hours with the trend to increase as technology becomes more
advanced. The power currently available provides excellent results
in engraving codes and logos on any type of surface. The beam
quality in these systems finally reaches the theoretical
diffraction limit providing high level precision markings, with a
maximum resolution of 100 dots per millimetre.
