Our Market Position

The business plan of Claire Lasers Corporation aims at the dominant markets of today and the emerging markets of the next 2-5 years. Classification of laser markets is often divided by the origin of the customer or it's application in society, i.e. military applications, medical/therapeutic, industrial applications and institutional research. As the technology matures and gains widespread acceptance, integration of lasers by OEM industry providing to these four classes of customers, makes that classification less meaningful, or at least makes tracking these customer classes less feasible.

A market classification which makes more sense to our business, uses scientific logic to define market boundaries. Laser applications can be divided in three general classes:

  1. Lasers as a metrology tool in instrumentation to probe our environment,
  2. Lasers as a source of directed energy to transform material in our environment, and
  3. Lasers as a source for optical telecommunication, which connects the above two classes.

Then, depending on the metrology process (ranging, species identification, imaging...) or the transformation process (cutting, drilling, ablating, welding...), one can classify the various options for a laser solution. Although, no unique assignment can be made in absolute terms, this classification provides a more practical market division, to assign relation between markets and laser types. The telecommunications market is not addressed, at least directly, by our business.

As defined in the above terms, our laser products aim at the two top classes of markets, i.e.

  1. Lasers for metrology, and
  2. Lasers for transforming and processing material in our environment.

CLC aims to be a leading provider of advanced light sources for metrology in Canada and Worldwide, via productx from Blue Sky Research and laser technology for processing, via the ClearMark series , other products and new upcoming products in the development pipeline.

Despite its tremendous potential, laser processing brings with itself new environmental challenges as resulting laser fume can be toxic or noxious to worker and detrimental to long-term reliability of equipment. As a responsible provider of laser processing equipment and integrated system application, CLC have engaged the distribution of laser fume extraction product from PUREX.
